Wondering how to help? Here are 5 easy ways you can support the Foodbank’s effort to provide food to seniors, families, and individuals in Santa Barbara County during the COVID-19 crisis.

  1. Donate: Financial donations go the furthest! They allow us to leverage our unique bulk buying power and relationships to maximize the amount of food that can be purchased per dollar. Give online at https://donate.foodbanksbc.org/campaign/rebuild-santa-barbara-county/c343173    
  2. To donate by check: Donations are accepted by mail at both Foodbank warehouse locations as well as our State St. location. Please make the check out to Foodbank of Santa Barbara County.
  3. Volunteer: Our volunteers are assembling over 4,000 bags of food a week, delivering groceries to seniors at home, and so much more. We literally can’t do this without you! Sign up at https://foodbanksbc.org/give-help/volunteer/
  4. Make a mask: We cannot do our job or allow volunteers to help us if we cannot be safe. We need homemade masks! They can be dropped off at 4554 Hollister Ave or 490 W. Foster Rd. on Friday between 10:30-11am. If you have store-bought PPE, please bring those to a donation site to be redirected to emergency and medical staff.   5. Donate Food: If you excess shelf-stable food you would like to donate, please bring it to 4554 Hollister Ave between 1 and 3pm only, or to the bin located outside at 490 W. Foster Rd.
  6. Spread the word: Share Foodbank messages on social media and with your friends! Often, we can’t tell who is struggling and in need of resources.

1 in 4 people in Santa Barbara County lives with food insecurity. By joining the Foodbank Family, you are choosing to end hunger in our county. Through our programs and our 300 non-profit partners, we are providing food and nutrition education for 1 in 4 people in Santa Barbara County.

All Foodbank food and services, including nutrition education workshops in local schools, neighborhood distributions of fresh vegetables and disaster response food coordination, are offered free of cost because of contributions of community members like you.

When members of our community come together, we all become stronger. Joining together in the fight against hunger ensures we have fresh produce, a network of reliable partners and the means to serve as the primary food resource in an emergency.

With a powerful, reliable family of monthly donors, we can provide necessary nutrition to every person in our community facing hunger. Students, veterans, seniors and families rely on us to bridge the gap when an unexpected bill uses up the food budget for the month. It’s only thanks to people like you that we can plan ahead and meet the needs of our county.


When you support the Foodbank, you are helping to move 146,198 children, working families and seniors in our county from hunger to health. Thanks to your support we are able to provide more and nutritious food. Last year we distributed the food needed for more than 9.7 million meals, of which half was fresh produce.
